Stress too much? No More Worry!!!

Stress has always been considered as bad for our health for decades. However, researchers has found the benefit of stress recently. During her talk @ TedGlobal in June 2013, Kelly McGonigal, a Health Psychologist, explained how we can make friend with stress so as stress can be good for us.

People were told that stress is harm for our health for many reasons including increase risk of cardiovascular disease, mental problem. etc. Recent research on 30 000 adults in the United States for 8 years concerning about how much stress they had and what their believe toward stress.The result from this research turned our thought upside down. They found that people who had a lot of stress and believe it was bad for them had increase 43%  risk of die prematurely. On the other hand, people who had a lot of stress but believe it was good for them had the lowest risk just like the people who had very little stress.

The stress found to be good in some ways that it cause our heart to beat faster, blood vessels stay relax (only if we think that stress is good for us), breath stronger and sweating. All of these mechanisms prepare our self for the upcoming event. Research also found that chronic stress will have bad effect.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE BIRD (AVIAN) FLU

Recent Bird flu (H5N1) in Cambodia

In January 2013, there were 5 new cases of highly contagious infection of Avian influenza (H5N1) virus occurred in Cambodia. Four of the five died, only one survived experiencing only mild symptoms. There were no evidence of human to human transmission and four of the cases are known to have closed contact with sick/dead poultry. All cases happen in 4 different provinces and including Phnom Penh (the capital of Cambodia), and three other provinces. This serious disease attacks the patient of both sexes and in various age group ranging from the 8 months old to 35 years old. In February, there are another four more cases reported of being infected with H5N1 from different provinces. The las case is the ninth person in 2013 who was diagnosed with H5N1 influenza on 23rd February 2013 by Institut Pasteur du Cambodge. The patient is a 35-year-old man from Kampong Cham Province.
